A Quiet kind of Thunder-Sara Barnard

Why hello there Bibliophiles,

I have never really understood when people would tell me that they just couldn't find the time to finish a book in a month; I have to admit that I kind of understand this now. The December period made finishing just this book hard enough, but fear not I have finally finished reading A Quiet Kind of Thunder By Sara Barnard.

First things first, I am sure that you are wondering why I picked this book? Or as I usually say how did this particular book pick me? Well here's a free piece of information about me that I don't mind sharing with you. I have always wanted to learn sign language since before I could remember if I am being quite honest. As soon as I landed my first retail job, it became more apparent;  I crossed paths with many deaf customers, and the need to learn became even greater. However my subjects clashed in University and I was never able to learn. Fear not there is still time.

Anyway, the title of this book caught eye, then I opened it up to read the first chapter and realized it was a beautiful story about Steffi a selectively mute teenager that struggled with anxiety so great that she couldn't formulate words most times. She would soon meet a deaf student named Rhys and their meeting would forever change them both for the better. I struggle so much to not give too much away, because I believe that it is important that you experience every amazing piece of this story yourself to fully enjoy it. This book touches on anxiety, BSL, romance of course and most importantly finding oneself no matter what the restrictions may be.

What did we love about this book
Each chapter number is in sign language, and in different parts of this book you are taught different types of sign which gives this book so much character

What did we not love
There were a few chapters that had a few missing words which was a liiiiiittttle distracting if I am being completely honest, but it didn't take away from the story at all, just a minor thing.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven-Mitch Albom♡

Happy New Year!!! Good day Bibliophiles I promised you this review so here it is. . . I have a new favorite book of all time. This book is more than just a fictional title, this book made me stop and think of all of the interactions I have had with people that I have come into contact with.  The Five People You Meet in Heaven follows the story of an elderly mans life and death. This man goes by the name " Eddie ", often called Eddie Maintenance because of his name tag. Eddie dies while trying to save a little girl at his place of work, and thus starts a journey through Heaven. In his heaven, he meets five people, some strangers, some people he knows very well. These five people teach him lessons and  help him understand the impact he may have had in their lives, and the impact they had on his.  What did we love about it? Mitch Albom is a great writer! I got through this book in three days and this is because I really needed to know who Eddie was go...

When Breath Becomes Air- Paul Kalanithi

Hey Bibliophiles! I haven't read a good biography in the longest time, and I can honestly say it has been long overdue. "At the age of thirty-six, on the verge of completing a decade's training as a neurosurgeon ,Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. One day he was a doctor treating the dying, the next he was a patient struggling to live.  When Breath Becomes Air chronicles Kalanithi's transformation from a medical student in search of what makes a virtuous and meaningful life into a neurosurgeon working in the core of human identity-the brain- and finally into a patient and a new father."  When I started reading When Breath Becomes Air three days ago, a sad song happened to be playing in the background and when I came to the last pages of this book, a sad song happened to be playing from my playlist. I would like to blame the music on my heightened emotions or instant connection to this book; however it is the author. Paul Kal...
